Meet Our Attorneys

Brittany Pedersen

Brittany Michelle Pedersen is the owner and managing partner of the firm Pedersen & Irvin, Ltd.  She became a partner of the Law Office of Tegeler & Pedersen in June 2014 after working with her mentor DJ Tegeler for 2 years.  Licensed in the State of Illinois in 2009, she began her practice in medical malpractice defense and litigation. Her current primary areas of concentration are criminal defense litigation, civil rights litigation, business law and family law. She serves individuals in Cook, DeKalb, DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will Counties.

Between the fall of 2009 and August 2012, Ms. Pedersen was an Assistant Public Defender in Kane County, Illinois. She represented indigent defendant’s accused of murder, sex crimes, narcotic offenses, juvenile offenses and multitude of lesser class criminal offenses. As the only African-American public attorney in Kane County, Ms. Pedersen was a member of a multi-disciplinary diversity council working diligently to address the gross disparity between African-American and Caucasian children being taken into foster care within the county. Ms. Pedersen worked diligently on behalf of those residents of Kane County who couldn’t afford attorneys.  She treated and continues to treat all of her clients with dignity and compassions ensuring that they are treated fairly under the law.

Ms. Pedersen graduated from Duke University in 2001 with a Bachelors of Arts degree in International Political Economics. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University Chicago, School of Law in 2008. Prior to attending law school Ms. Pedersen was Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s staff fundraiser during her 2002 campaign and joined her at the Illinois Attorney General’s office as a legislative affairs and crime victim’s rights assistant in the criminal division.

Ms. Pedersen is a board member of the Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Kane County Bar Association. She has been asked to speak at seminars for the Chicago Bar Association, Northern Illinois public defenders’ offices and the IACDL.
